Wales have suffered a blow ahead of their November tests that include a grand slam match against the All Blacks in Cardiff with flanker Jonathan Thomas ruled out with a groin injury.
The Ospreys flanker, who has 46 caps and was part of Wales' Six Nations title success last season, is likely to be sidelined for six weeks.
That means he will miss Wales' November tests with South Africa, Canada, New Zealand and Australia.
Wales' medical team continue to monitor the rehab of Ospreys halfback Mike Phillips as he comes back from a long-term knee problem.
